Trinity Church

Trinity Church is looking ahead to strengthening their stakes but also building and multiplying in new communities.

Expected Work Hours: 30 hr/week
Expected Monthly Pay: $1,200/month

The following is a Q&A with Director of Ministries, Gabby Range:

What are your greatest hopes and dreams for the next couple of years for your church?
The Lord has blessed Trinity Church, and we have seen amazing growth over the past few years. We are looking ahead to strengthening our stakes but also building and multiplying in new communities. We started out in Virginia Beach with the vision “Reach the Beach, Reach the World.” We are excited to continue reaching new communities by being a sending church. The Lord has been faithful, and we continue the ministry of making disciples of all nations.

Why did you choose to do a residency & what are you hopeful will happen through this process?
We understand that for our church to be effective in our mission, we need to create a leadership pipeline. We want to be intentional about investing in and developing future leaders for the most important work. Our hope is that they catch our Trinity DNA and culture and there is a long-term place for them here. If that doesn’t work out in the end, we are happy to play a part in helping future leaders prepare for long-term ministry success.

What is it like to work on staff there?
Working at Trinity is fun, exciting, and rewarding! Our staff is close and cares for each other well. There is a strong emphasis on family and protecting our family time. We work hard, but we also trust in the Spirit of God to move the mission forward.

Please describe the current staff structure.
Trinity is a highly collaborative church. I believe our leadership shows great honor to our staff regardless of your position. We honor new ideas, we work together, and we fight for unity. There is a spirit of authenticity here unlike I’ve experienced on any other church staff.

What qualities does it take to “win” on staff at your church?
Be authentic. Find your voice. Work hard. Pray hard. Root yourself in deep community and love Jesus fiercely.

Who will the resident report to?  Will there be a different person acting as coach?
Brent Hall, Worship Director - Supervisor.
Gabby Range, Director of Trinity Ministries - Coach.

Are there particular assessment tools that you prefer when exploring potential staff people?
Our staff currently uses “Leading From Your Strengths” with Ministry Insights. I personally love the Enneagram.

Are you affiliated with a particular denomination or tribes/association of churches? If so, what websites could one investigate to gain further understanding?
No.

What are the key doctrinal and theological issues where alignment is essential?
The main issues we see misalignment in that are specific to our church's beliefs would be the view of women in leadership and baptism. We are a complementarian church, and we hold to a believer’s baptism.

What is your average weekend attendance?
2,000 in person and 600 online.

In general, what is your church demographic?
Our church is rather diverse when it comes to age, and because we have 7 campuses, each one has its own demographic. We are committed to the pursuit of building multi-ethnic, multi-generational congregations that reflect the communities around us.

Is there more than one site or venue? If so, please describe.
Yes, we have 7 campuses. Four are in the Hampton Roads area where our central office is located. One is in Reston, VA in NOVA. One is in Stuttgart, Germany near a large military base. Our other campus is more of a mission campus in the Middle East.

How many conversions has your church had in the past 12 months? (however you define this and whatever you count)
We solely count baptisms to measure this, and we have had around 150 in the past 12 months.

What percentage of people are involved in a small group?
Around 28%

What is your church known for in the community?
We ask the question, “If Trinity Church ceased to exist today, would the community notice? Would they miss us?” In light of this, each of our campuses have local reach partners such as local elementary schools that they serve and partner with. This is something we have focused on in the past four years, and we have seen the fruit of it.

How much are you planning on financially compensating your resident?  Is it set or is it flexible?
$1200 monthly plus housing provided

What are the expected work hours and what does a typical workweek look like for this resident? A typical week would look like: 9:00am - 4:00pm Monday thru Thursday. 7:00am-1:30pm Sundays with some exceptions and evenings.

What else would you say to a resident considering joining your team?
Our team is committed to and excited about being a teaching church. Your long-term success in ministry is front of mind for us. We would love to partner with you as you further discern and prepare for your call to ministry.
